Easy Barra Curry


  • 750g Barra, chopped
  • 1 long red chilli (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon curry paste
  • 140ml can low fat coconut cream
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves chopped
  • Boiled rice to serve


In a bowl combine chilli, lime juice and salt, coat fish chunks and leave to marinade, meanwhile heat oil in a medium pan, cook onion, stirring until soft. Add ginger, garlic and curry paste, cook stirring until fragrant 1-2 minutes. Add coconut cream, bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until sauce thickens slightly. Add fish to sauce and cook covered for 5 minutes or until fish is cooked through. Sprinkle with chopped coriander. Serve with rice. Serves 4-6.
